CREDIT CARD BAD BOYS

Executives from the financial institutions who received funds from the 0 billion banking bailout faced their critics on the House Financial Services Committee on Wednesday February 11, 2009 in Washington. The chief executives at the hearing are: Kenneth D. Lewis of Bank of America, Robert P. Kelly of Bank of New York Mellon, Vikram Pandit of Citigroup, Lloyd C. Blankfein of Goldman Sachs, Jamie Dimon of JPMorgan Chase, John J. Mack of Morgan Stanley, Ronald E. Logue of State Street, and John G. Stumpf of Wells Fargo. Their silent response to the questioning tells the whole story. Since this time, these companies have offered little relief to consumers. In fact, they have raised rates on millions of more Americans to help pay for growing credit card losses. The apathy of the American public to this additional “taxation” by the banks is beyond belief. Add to this the fact that Executive pay at the banks is going back up in 2009 (NYTIMES APRIL 25th 2009), and you see we are no longer a nation that believes in “United We Stand,” but rather “Everyman for Himself.”

Why am I declined for everything?

How come I can’t get accepted for any credit what so ever (even credit aimed at people with defaults and CCJs)? I can’t get a credit card, loan or overdraft. I’m only 18 (so obviously I have little credit history) but my credit score is really low (low 300s) and I get declined even for cards for people with no credit history and adverse credit.

I have been approved for a contract phone, which I pay on time every month and I have had 2 payday loans which have both been paid in full on time.

Why is my credit so bad?
Thank you for the replies guys. I have taken everything on board. It may be worth mentioning I live in the UK and there is no such thing as a secured card here. Also, to the person who said the phone contract isn’t reported to the credit agencies, it is on my credit report listed as a Credit Account and is updated each month, so you are wrong.

The apartment I’m currently in is a P.O.S. It is unsafe (we’ve had two attempted break-ins) for me and my 1 year old son. Thus, I am dying to move when my lease ends in July.

The only trouble is, once I had my son, I got behind on my student loan payment and two credit card payments. My credit score dropped drastically to a 562. (Yes, I know that sucks.) In the last several months, I have gotten caught up on the loan, and my debt on the cards is now below 50% of the limit.

However, I have a spotless rental history. No late payments, and no damages or complaints. I also have a substantial enough income to afford a more expensive one. But, will I have a hard time getting approved for a nicer, safer apartment?

Thanks in advance!
